Some days ago, while i was busy being bored as usual….I had read all my favorite blogs and even went as far as going thru old posts to read people’s comments, that’s to give you an insight on how boring my day was and oh before this i had already eaten twice and slept for like 2 hours and it was just 3:30pm *sigh* . Being that i have a phobia for being this really fat girl,i decided to find something……anything, whatever it would take to keep me awake ….so restless me tried blackberry messenger,I wasn’t feeling it,i just thought to myself there’s actually twitter o, why not go on there and be a total nuisance at least for some hours……Few minutes after i settled down with my phone and started ranting on twitter(you know the normal twitter bant),i stumbled on this particular tweet that caught my eyes from Obiageli Ezekwesili @obyezeks <—-Twitter handle … This name sure rings a bell because this Female Chartered Accountant has been so many things in the Nigerian govt sector…… I’ve digressed a bit.
What actually got me interested was what she tweeted and not her twitter handle. Paraphrasing she said “Oprah’s speech to Harvard Class of 2013 is a must read, my young Tweeps!” Being that i have this soft spot for successful and powerful women across the world, I hopped on it blindly like a rat after a fish, i tried to open the link on my blackberry, it was a you tube link and i didn’t have enough airtime, i tried with my laptop, it still won’t open due to bad network (thanks to swift) *phew*. I just couldn’t take my mind off that tweet, every minute am thinking “what can Oprah possibly say to Harvard graduating students ehn? I just have to listen to it,i kept telling my friend..To cut my story short, after much struggle with my network, i even called swift customer care lol it was that bad, i watched a video of the speech and best believe it was a truly a must watch and “Oh my goodness! I’m at Haaaaaaaaaaaarvard!” That’s how Oprah Winfrey began her speech at Harvard University graduation ceremony—in her spirited, signature.
Not too many girls from rural Mississippi have made it all the way here to Cambridge,” she said“I consider today to be a defining milestone in a very long and blessed journey. She also received an honorary Doctor of Law degree from the university (as you can see in the picture above) before taking to the podium.
She had plenty inspiring words to share but amongst the whole speech what caught my attention was when she said even Beyoncé in all her Beyonceness asked me after an interview when the camera’s were down….she said “Was that ok’ This goes along way to teach us something that everyone at the end of the day needs some sort of approval or assurance to be sure they did good or are doing the right thing.
I hope you enjoyed reading this post and that it was helpful… Leave a reply below…let me know what you think and what your best line from the speech is… You can still look the speech up tho on the internet. My next post will probably be a short video of the speech and in case anyone gets a video of the speech that’s not from you tube…kindly check my contact me page to contact me so i can share it with my blackberry readers
Here’s a link to the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=GMWFieBGR7c
Enough of my rantings tho, i should probably sleep because it’s 4:56am in the morning and I’ve been in-front of my laptop all night.. wish you guys a lovely weekend ahead xx
